Tigerkenn Homes Ltd, Annual summary of our activities 2024.

TIGERKENN HOMES LTD, OUR ANNUAL SUMMARY 2024.

Good day my people, we thank God for guiding us all through another year. This outgoing year 2024 was characterized by severe economic turmoil. We thought 2023 was bad enough, but 2024 surprised us in its negativity. Every economic indicators were showing that the country was still getting deeper in its economic woes, which was caused by government policy changes. Energy costs rose, cost of going around rose, and every other thing went up with them.

Consequently, the cost of materials, especially building materials because too high for most people. Building construction activities slowed down across the country, making other dependent business activities to also slow down. Some building projects had to stop totally. It will be noteworthy to state that this economic downturn affected our work at Tigerkenn Homes.

We could not meet up with a lot of our quoted jobs, due to the unrealistic nature of the budgets. Price rise continued to make a mess of ongoing projects to the extent that we had to discontinue some of our projects, as we were taking too much losses.

Also, due to the lack of disposable income of the masses, investment in landed properties became a venture reserved for the very rich only. As such we couldn't sell a lot of properties from our 2 estates, plus other lands we have for sale in other parts of the cities.

We also made conscious efforts to reposition our business, by investing in other sectors of the building industry value chain. We invested in shops, and stocked some stores with building materials. We are also continuing to re engeneer our operations to include more services, like the building and selling aspect of our services.

At the end of the year, we worked on about 8 buildings, completing 2 of them and handing them over to their new owners.

I wish to use this special opportunity to once again thank our clients, customers and suppliers. You were all great and really understood our plight in the past year 2024. Your patience and continued patronage is well appreciated. God will continue to bless you all.

We hope that 2025 will be better in the building industry, if the policies from the political class starts to bear fruits. We also urge you our investors to be patient with us as we continue to fine tune our services to serve you better. There is a very big space for more development.

Have a prosperity filled 2025 ahead.

How much is a bushel of Local rice selling in your location?

A bushel of rice is about 100 cups of rise, usually 25 kg in weight. In my own location, we buy them for as much as N34,000. I have heard that many people buy it for less. How much are they selling it in your own location?

Tigerkenn Homes property development: Our Service Policy.

We at Tigerkenn Homes have been in the forefront of building services delivery for the past 12 years. Many of our new and intending clients and customers always ask us how they can engage with us and get a detailed walkthrough of our services when it comes to building a new house.

We have decided to simplify the process by explaining to our clients, the best way we can attend to their needs faster, for a flawless start to their projects. The processes are described below.

1. How to contact us.

To contact us, a client should choose any one of the many channels of communication we have opened to the general public to reach out to us. You can reach us by phone call, email services, WhatsApp messages, or leaving a message in any of our online handles on Twitter (X), Nairaland, Blogger, or any other channels where we feature. Usually, we reply our messages to acknowledge receipt of your contact messages, and this sets up the second stage.

2. Provide us with your brief.

Your brief can come in the form of a detailed explanation of the work you want us to do for you, for simple works, we can gave a verbal discussion. For those who want lands or houses, we will request you to provide us with an address where we can send you pictures and details of the lands and houses available, together with their costs.
But for those who want us to help them erect new buildings, we will request they send us detailed building plan(s). For those who dont have building plans, we will go to the next stage.

3. Contacting our in-house architect

We have an architect who have always been working with us at Tigerkenn Homes. Prospective clients will be asked to brief our architects. They will be led through a variety of building designs that match the size they have in mind, the design and the finish standards they desire. Our clients are expected to pay for their building plans and have it produced on their names, after the sizes of the land has been taken into consideration. Please note that in some circumstances, the architect will need to inspect the land, and see things for himself. Things that needs to be achieved during a physical site inspection is the size and topography of the land, the nearness to other buildings, slope, and road setbacks.

4. Costing your building.

When the architect is done with your building plans, we can then start the process of costing your building. We usually attach building costs from our experience of building same types of buildings. In extreme cases, we will request clients to speak to quantity surveyors who will work out likely building costs that will guide both the client and builders on how to finance the project. The client is also expected to pay for the external quantity survey.

5. We work in stages.

We will need to look at your building plans, then work out with you, how many stages of the project we can split the work. For example, if we are building a duplex of two floors for you, we will divide the building stages as follows;

Stage 1. Foundation and DPC
Stage 2. Ground floor block walls
Stage 3. Decking slab
Stage 4. First floor block walls
Stage 5. Parapet and roofing

We expect to collect payment in stages. When we get paid for the full estimate for the first stage, we immediately move into site and start work. We expect to be paid for the second stage as we approach 90% of the works involved in the first stage. This is to allow us plan our building materials procurement and be ready for the subsequent stages even as we are rounding off all works at the first stage.

6. Harmonious working relationships

We thrive on the number of clients we gave delivered complete building services to. As such we always try to work with our clients and their families in such a way that everyone will be satisfied with the processes involved in the construction process. We have very experienced workers, and we get better with each project we embark on. We aim to complete more projects, and add same to the number of completed projects we have.

Thank you for contacting us.

At Tigerkenn Homes, PERFECTION IS OUR GOAL, EXCELLENCE WILL BE TOLERATED.

Product Review: Cutix cables and wires

Among the wires and cables used in building construction of homes, commercial buildings and industrial complexes, there is a shining star among them. The name is cutix cables. Since I have been using and working with this brand of product for over 20 years, I think I quality to speak about the product and what you should expect while using it.

Cutix cables is a product of Cutix Plc, a company incorporated by law as a private limited liability company on the 4th of November 1982. The company was listed at the Nigerian stock exchange on August 12th 1987. The company has its head office at number 17 Umuanuka street, Otolo Nnewi, Anambra state.

Among the products they produce are;

1. Power cables
2. Stranded bare copper cables
3. Multi core solid wires
4. Single core solid
5. Multi core flex wires
6. Single core amoured cable
7. Single core non amoured
8. Multi core amoured cables
9. Multi core non amoured cables
10. Stripe cables
11. Single stranded stripe
12. Single stranded
13. Power cable
14. Aluminium twist

The qualities that make people keep coming back to buy more of cutix cables include these;

1. Standard length.
Cutix cables are cooled at 100 + 0.5 meters as against the recommended 100 metres specified in the Nigerian industrial standard (NIS)

2. Flame retardant.
Cutix cables does not support combustion. In the event of fire outbreak, cutix cables will not burn for more than 0.25mm, but rather extinguish in seconds.

3. Conductor diameter.
For each cable size, there is a specified conductor diameter. Cutix cables conform to these diameter as all their cables meet the required conductor gauge and resistance.

4. Concentricity.
A quality cable has its insulation evenly distributed around the conductor. The insulation of cutix cables is evenly distributed thereby eliminating any risk of current leakage and electrocution.

5. Ageing properties.
Cutix cables retain its properties for several years notwithstanding the weather conditions.

6. Annealing properties.
A quality, efficient and effective job delivery requires a quality product. Cutix cables are well annealed for ease of installation and usage.

Editor's note: Cutix cables are the most popular cables in the Nigerian building materials market. They are the first choice for the past 40 years, for people who can afford to buy quality products.
