Difference between locally made and foreign iron doors

There is a great difference between the Nigerian locally fabricated iron doors and the foreign made and imported doors.  The difference could be seen visually by mere looking at it. The foreign door is a factory assembled , mass produced item and so enjoys some form of uniform quality.  The Nigerian made doors are hand made most of the time, and could be better made because of the difficulty in hiding the materials used from the owner of the door. The Nigerian door is usually more expensive,  even as it is made right here in the country.

Hiring of casual workers and its disadvantages

Many big businesses and companies in Nigeria are short changing the economy for their own economic gains.  They have perfected the process of hiring workers from the back doors.  They refuse to hire qualified workers and keep them as their main work force,  they rather choose to hire semi skilled workers and pay them peanuts,  leaving the mass of qualified workers unemployed.  What is your views about this practice.?

Tricycles take over!

Maybe you have witnessed it personally,  or heard about the invasion of tricycles into the Nigerian transport sector.  These bikes are running cars out of the roads with their smaller,  cheaper and more efficient mode of transportation of the masses wwithin short distances.  The drivers are another story altogether,  rough, disrespectful and always trying to break all traffic ri rules.  The keke may have come to stay in our transport sector permanently.

Can you remember your primary school experiences?

So many people find it difficult to visualize how life was when they were younger.  Especially the experiences while in school, usually in primary school.  Can you remember those formative years of your life and who your friends were? What were your expectations then, were you quiet or stubborn? Ajebo pikin or Kpako?

Why we need to develop a housing estate at Ninth mile corner

Where is Ninth Mile Corner?

This is an industrial outpost on the outskirts of Enugu town, around 9 miles off the center of Enugu town on the road to Onitsha. Ninth mile is a part of Ngwo town, Udi local government area of Enugu state, although the development of the area has now spread into some parts of Nsude, a neighboring town.

What is the attraction to Ninth Mile?

The industries. The industrial hub of Ninth mile started developing around 1976, when the Nigerian Bottling Company opened a bottling plant to produce Coca Cola products. Soon after, many more companies started to spring up around this area. Reno drinks started making bottled products around the early 1980s, followed by Nigerian breweries who set up a big facility to produce Star lager beer, Gulder, Maltina and other drinks. Soon after many more companies are rushing in, Seven Up bottling plant has a big production plant, Aqua Rapha drinks, even Guinness has a big land opposite Nsude seminary.

What else?

The water. It is on record that Ninth mile supplies almost all of the water used in Enugu town, with exception of the water coming from wells and streams in Enugu, all potable water in Enugu comes from Ninth mile. Owning a property in Ninth mile is like owning a right to a water source. Water business is a lucrative venture in Ninth mile. You can even produce and market drinking water in this location.

What about rental property?

Of course it is booming just like in most parts of Enugu state. Since there are many big companies here, there will be a crowd and the crowd will live somewhere. Factory workers, drivers, conductors, shop owners, hawkers etc must rent houses to stay close to their work stations. Also, the weather here is clement, with a good supply of drinking water close by, you can be sure that a good building will attract good value as this location grows. Watching the type of products coming out from this area, they are items consumed for all seasons, so the economy is sustainable.

Excess electricity in Nigeria?

You may think I am joking by the above topic, but imagine leaving street lights on all afternoon long and still complaining of low electricity supply and higher tariff. Is the wasted current not enough to power many small businesses like barbing and beauty salons, welder's shops, cybercafes and drinks bars, keeping them in business and making more people stay gainfully employed?

Some people should be made to do their jobs in this country, enough of the wasted current due to the negligence of some workers who cannot switch off street lights, making the lamps to burn for 24 hours, shortening the life span of the lamps and bulbs.

How to spice up your love life

How do you spice up your love life? Most people dont know, or are too busy or too sure of their partners that they will rather ignore the above question. Some people live in denial, some pretend about it while others will pay lip service to the condition of their love life.

There are many things that matters in life, but love is among the most important. Adults should learn to show love to those they love, by saying it and also by acting on it. The world is a very difficult place, and by showing love we inadvertently change the world to a better place by showing love to everyone around us in words and in deeds. There is no way you can go about showing love, helping people, even the less privileged without getting love in return. The best way to get loved is to show love.

So, go ahead, surprise your partner today, buy flowers, buy gifts and show them appreciation for the little or the much they have done. Take your loved one to somewhere cool and waste some time with them. SHOW SOME LOVE!

Anambra state lands and property development

Hello my good people,
I am opening this thread in response to the inquiries of some of my friends and readers who might want to buy and develop lands, houses or properties in Anambra State. Property development makes a lot of sense in this fast growing state where the citizens are keen on the best of architectural development. You are almost assured of bountiful returns on your investment as lands and properties soar in value.

We are going to devote this thread to our efforts to acquire the lands in a safe and affordable part of the state, our steps to document the transactions and our actions to develop the lands will all be shown here.

Expect updates from me as I work on these first few locations. Thank you.

"Devil beans"

They call it "devil beans" with good reason.  Its not as if the beans contained in this pod is devilish in any way, but because of the pod which is spiked with little spiky hairs that stick to the human skin and cause so much irritating itching and discomfort when touched. This could be the reason for the name. This pod can torment those not knowledgeable with bushes and plants.  Be warned for your skin sake.

Coal Camp, as seen from above

This is Coal Camp Enugu,  a colonial outpost developed by the British coal mining company for housing numerous coal miners and their families.  Coal Camp is more than 100 years old. The wonderful thing about coal camp is the planning.  This is one of the most planned layouts in Nigeria.  All streets here runs in straight lines.  All drainages marked out while every house is designed to house multiple families in rows of rooms.

The draw back is the poor spacing between each house or street which presents the whole place as cramped and airless.  Because of the high number of people squeezed into multiple rooms in each house,  sanitary habits are poor. Coal camp is now a home for the poorest of the poor.

A view of Coal Camp from the air.

Choice of paint colour for residential buildings

When it comes to building houses,  the fun is in visualising how the final look will be after the house bas been completed. From the buider to the owner,  and even the neighbours and prospective tenants if its a rental apartment, everyone is interested in the final look of the house.

Because of the adage that says "he who pays the piper , dictates the tunes," the choice of house painting should lie with the owner of a house, the builder will only see to it that the painting work is well done. But can the painted colour in a house add or remove anything from the expected rental income of a finished house? What do you think?

Lands for sale at Emene Enugu

I went around Enugu and surrounding towns looking for good, safe and affordable lands to buy for the purpose of building an estate.  I will still post more about this.  Meanwhile some pictures of the land I inspected today around Emene.

The need to upgrade the amenities in Emene Enugu.

I am one of those who think that Emene Enugu needs an urgent overhaul of all its amenities.  Roads,  drainages,  culverts and pipe borne water are some of the amenities that willmake Emene to compete with other parts of Enugu town in rental income and appeal to intending home owners.  Picture of Rehab road Emene Enugu.

The unfortunate state of things at AVOP Nachi, so sad.

Industrialization holds the key for the emancipation of the masses from poverty and hardships, it is widely believed that when the masses in any society are busy in gainful employments, the incidences of strife, youth restiveness and other forms of social ills will take a back seat as everyone will be too busy or too well to do to remember to involve themselves in social ills. After all a hungry man is always an angry man.

There was a vegetable oil manufacturing company built for the purpose of producing and marketing vegetable oil in the old Anambra state. The company was located in Nachi,  Udi local government area of present day Enugu state. The company was doing well initially and we can all remember with nostalgia, their radio and TV adverts which were always in the air. The company was a house hold name.

The company must have been allowed to fail, and later on it was burnt, the carcass of the company is still visible for all to see. The government of Enugu state should please wade in and rebuild this company , then staff it with honest men and women who will have a mandate of repositioning the company and taking a huge chunk of the market share of vegetable oil in Nigeria.
