Beautiful pictures of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
Nnamdi Azikiwe University came into being as an offshoot of the defunct Anambra State University of Technology (ASUTECH). In 1991, following the split of the old Anambra State into Anambra and Enugu States, the Awka and Nnewi campuses of the former ASUTECH were constituent into Nnamdi Azikiwe University by the Anambra State Edict No.5 of November 26, 1991. Nnamdi Azikiwe University was taken over by the Federal Government by Decree No. 34 of July 15, 1992. In 1991, after the former Anambra State was split into Anambra and Enugu States, the Awka and Nnewi campuses of the former Anambra State University of Technology (ASUTECH) were combined into Nnamdi Azikiwe University, which was later taken over by Federal government. The university is named after Nnamdi Azikiwe, the first president of Nigeria. The Awka Campus became Nnamdi Azikiwe University. In 1992, the Federal Government of Nigeria took over the University from Anambra State. Nnamdi Azikiwe University, thus, became a Federal University.

UNIZIK is finally looking like a proper university. One hopes they sustain the positive improvements and make sure they spread out the development using their entire landscape. If not encroachers will build on their land if it's not utilized.
ReplyDeleteI am glad UNIZIK reached out to Arthur Eze to adopt a road project.
ReplyDeleteEmeka Offor just donated a whopping $10 million dollars to Jimmy Carter foundation. UNIZIK should reach out to the billionaires in our climes and tell them what their needs are.
UNIZIK should also partner with many of our billionaires looking for a cause to invest their wealth, so that they can do some projects for UNIZIK. Such as building students hostel on campus to be named after them or the Chike Okoli entrepreneurial center.

I just love the way they are using local proven billionaires to name all faculty buildings, it kind of breeds competition and deepens local interest. The heroes named have got their names immortalized by this act. Good thinking.
